Silicon Valley CTO joins AMPD
AMPD has appointed experienced technology entrepreneur Martin Wells as Chief Technology Officer as the agency continues to expand its artificial intelligence and technology capabilities.
Martin brings 25 years of experience building, scaling and advising technology businesses, including 15 years in Silicon Valley. His career includes three operator exits and three further exits as a technical co-founder and advisor to companies acquired by Meta, Sony and AOL, with over $250 million raised across the businesses he has supported.
Martin has advised more than 30 founders and has built and scaled products ranging from a media platform that grew from zero to two million users in nine months to a global gaming platform and a number one grossing iOS app across 25 countries.
He is also the author of AI Alpha, which explores how private equity firms can identify and capture hidden AI value across their portfolio companies, and Superwork – How to prepare for the age of AI.
At AMPD, Martin will lead the agency’s technology strategy across artificial intelligence, product development, engineering and architecture, supporting both client work and the development of new AI products and businesses.
His appointment comes as AMPD continues to evolve beyond the traditional agency model, combining marketing, creativity, digital, technology and AI within one business.
“Martin joining AMPD is a hugely important appointment for us,” said Peter Grange, AMPD Founder and CEO.
“He brings an exceptional level of experience. He has spent 25 years building and scaling technology businesses, including 15 years in Silicon Valley, and has been involved in companies acquired by some of the biggest names in global technology.
“Most importantly, he understands how to turn technology and AI into real products, real efficiencies and real commercial value. We are building a very different type of agency, one where technology and AI sit alongside creativity, marketing and strategy rather than being separate disciplines.”
Martin will also play a key role in the development of AMPD’s own AI ventures, including Super LLM, an AI platform to supercharge SMEs and teams that is due to launch later this year.
“AI is creating one of the biggest shifts in business and technology we have seen in decades, but the opportunity is not simply about adopting more tools,” said Martin.
“The real value comes from understanding where AI can improve products, operations, customer experience and decision-making, and then building the right systems around it.
“What attracted me to AMPD is the ambition to bring creativity, marketing, AI and technology together in a genuinely integrated way. There is a huge opportunity to build something very different.”
The appointment is part of AMPD’s wider growth as the agency expands its work locally and globally.
“The next generation of agencies do not look like the agencies of the past. They combine brilliant human creativity with technology, AI, automation, data and product thinking. Martin joining AMPD is a major part of AMPD’s evolution,” added Peter.
